Donaire "The Filipino Flash" shared his glory to the nation by defeating Bernabe "El Torito" Concepcion and winning the WBA Interim Junior Bantamweight Title.
"The Filipino Flash" edged out "El Torito" as all judges scored in favor of him with 117-111, 115-113 and 116-112. Donaire now has 22 wins (14 knockouts) and 1 loss while Concepcion has 13 victories (8 knockouts), 3 losses and 1 draw.
Concepcion failed to make the 115lbs weight limit and was reportedly 130lbs on fight night and was fined $130,000 during its weigh-in.
I've watched the match on TV, and I was impressed how quick Donaire's punches are even though Concepcion was tough, he still had a cut on his wrist and his face was rather swollen. Donaire also had a cut near his left eye, but that did not bother him to win the fight by unanimous decision. I am looking forward to another match like this.
