The red hot Butler Bulldogs would have made the history books if they had won the national championship, but they just got a basket short against the Duke Blue Devils with a score of 61-59. It was a great match as it came to the last seconds of regulation as John Maynard missed the clutch half-court shot with 3.6 seconds on the clock. Although Duke won their 4th championship, Head Coach Mike Krzyzewski said that "It was a great game, and he wants to congratulate the Butler team and fans for making it this far. We played a great game, they played a great game, its had for me to say it, to imagine that we're national champions." Kyle Singler led the Duke with 19 points, followed by Jon Scheyer with 15, and Nolan Smith with 13.
