Karl’s life partner, Kim Van Deraa told the Denver Post that Karl would not return in the regular season and probably in the first round of the playoffs as he fights through cancer. He has been fighting his throat and neck cancer for the past two months, and he recently finished his sets of radiation treatment and to have chemotherapy this week. Karl has been losing a lot of pounds since. Although he was not around for the Denver Nuggets, they still won a lot of games since his absence.
