The battle for ROY this season has been tough, especially in the PG Position. 11 of the 1st round picks were point guards, and they showed that they were ready for the NBA, but it comes down to the 3 best candidates for the Rookie of the Year Award. First is Tyreke Evans. He has shown a lot of what fans and the league could expect from him in about 3 years. He has been the superstar and leader of the Kings, puts up consistent points, rebounds and assists, as he tries to achieve what only Oscar Robertson, Michael Jordan and Lebron James did in their rookie year and is the MVP for the T-Mobile Rookie-Sophomore Challenge 2010. Next up is Stephen Curry. He had a slow start in the NBA, but as the All-Star break ended, he has suddenly improved his fundamental skills and his maturity as a point guard. He has been the leader of the Warriors and is one of the best three-point shooters of his generation. He has a promising future ahead of him. The last one is Brandon Jennings. Before he went to the NBA, he first played in Euroleague, so that makes him quite mature in playing the game. He started out red hot in the NBA as he made history in Milwaukee Bucks by putting up 55 points in a game against the Golden State Warriors and he leads all rookies in assists. But, he slowed down a bit as the season goes on, maybe because teams were aware of what this kid could do in the court.
These are the current stats of the 3 ROY prospects:
Tyreke Evans: 20.2 PPG, 5.2 RPG, 5.7 APG, 1.5 SPG, 0.5 BPG
Stephen Curry: 16.5 PPG, 4.3 RPG, 5.6 APG, 1.8 SPG, 0.2 BPG
Brandon Jennings: 15.8 PPG, 3.6 RPG, 5.9 APG, 1.3 SPG, 0.2 BPG
